Wheat berries are grains of wheat without the husk. They are a great source of fiber and they contain iron and 6 grams of protein per serving. Wheat berries are extremely easy to use as side dishes, as additions to salads and soups, or even a breakfast cereal instead of oatmeal or cream of wheat.

We suggest you cook a large batch of wheat berries over the weekend and store it in your refrigerator. When you want a delicious whole grain for breakfast, simply scoop out a cup of the cooked wheat berries, add dried or frozen fruit, some nuts and a little milk, and microwave. Or for an easy side dish at dinner, sauté some vegetables until tender, add some wheat berries, a little olive oil and balsamic vinegar, and you have a healthy and wholesome alternative to a rice dish.
